Fira is a traditional settlement and the current capital of Santorini
island, Greece. It’s name is an alternative pronunciation of “Thira”,
the ancient historic name of Santorini. Over the years, Fira turned out
from a small village to a contemporary busy town of Santorini located in
the western side of the island. Actually is one of the most spectacular
places a traveler can be to! White-washed little houses engraved to
caldera cliffs, stunning views to the volcano and easy access to the
most popular monuments of Santorini makes out the town of Fira.
Additionally it’s the most accessible place of the island. Taxis, public
buses and car rental offices are available for your transportation
depending on your preferences.
Within walking distance from Villa Evgenia Hotel can be found the main museum attractions of the island, the Archeological Museum, the Museum of Prehistoric Thera, the Folkloric Museum along with the Cathedral of Metamorphosis built on the site of Ypapanti Church that destroyed in 1956.
